This Spanish Level 1 course is designed to introduce students to a new language, covering grammatical concepts, situational and functional vocabulary, expressions, phrases, and pronunciation. At the end of the course, the objective is for each student to achieve effective communication in Spanish by using all of the new concepts learned throughout the course. Supplementary handouts and additional materials will be provided as needed.

Required Book: Spanish Now! Level 1 Eighth/Ninth Edition (Publisher: Barron’s) by Ruth Silverstein. Please purchase your own copy of the text.

This class is suitable for beginners.

Carmen Butera holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal in Lima, Peru. She teaches Spanish with experience with all levels, including beginners, intermediate, advanced, executives, and travelers.

Cancellation Policy:

The Carnegie Center reserves the right to cancel a class if minimum enrollment is not met. It is best to register early to help our instructors prepare and to ensure the class does not get cancelled. We evaluate registration numbers six – two business days before a class starts to decide whether we can hold the class. Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment will be cancelled six – two business days prior to the first class meeting. All participants will be notified by email and will receive full refunds.
