What Kentucky poetry bloodline do you belong to? What regional poetry speaks to you? In this class Sean Corbin will present four poetry “families” or styles, all from the state of Kentucky, with specific example poems of each, the characteristics of each, and writing exercises to help students explore what makes each voice unique, and what elements of each “family” are right for them to use in their own work. This is a generative class as well as a discourse, so be prepared to write and share your own ideas and opinions.
Sean Corbin is the Poetry Gauntlet Coordinator for the Carnegie Center, and is a published author. He has taught with the Carnegie Center for close to a decade. He is one-half of the Milestone Art Collective with his wife, Amanda Kelley Corbin.
This class is suitable for beginner and intermediate levels.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
The Carnegie Center reserves the right to cancel a class if minimum enrollment is not met. It is best to register early to help our instructors prepare and to ensure the class does not get cancelled. We evaluate registration numbers 6–2 business days before a class starts to decide whether we can hold the class. Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment will be cancelled six–two business days prior to the first class meeting. All participants will be notified by email and will receive full refunds.
