About the position
The Development Associate is part of a three-person team working to strengthen individual, corporate, and institutional giving to support the Carnegie Center. The full-time Development Associate supports the Carnegie Center’s overall fundraising goals through grantwriting, online giving campaign management, contributions including corporate sponsorship outreach, and program evaluation through qualitative and quantitative data collection. This position reports directly to the Development Director.
Primary Duties
Grantwriting:
- Assist the Development Director with preparing grant proposals and final reports by drafting initial proposal narratives, budgets, and reports as assigned.
- Track grant deadlines and maintain grants timeline and calendar.
- Identify, through research, new grant and funding opportunities aligned with Carnegie Center programs and strategic priorities.
Corporate & Community Support:
- Draft community-facing messages for print, Carnegie’s website, social media, and eNewsletters.
- Serve as staff lead for planning and implementing online giving campaigns (minimum of three annually), including “Giving Tuesday.” Work closely with Board and community members to empower them to participate in online giving campaigns.
- With support from the Development Director, lead communications and strategies to retain and grow monthly donors and assist Finance Associate with pledge renewals.
- Identify and research local business and corporate sponsor prospects and take a proactive role in cultivating and soliciting corporate sponsorships.
Data Collection & Administrative Support:
Other duties as assigned by Development Director.
Routinely conduct donor prospect research, using data from database (PatronManager, built on Salesforce) and other external resources.
Generate mailing lists for mailed and emailed campaigns to donors, with attention to data integrity.
Serve as staff lead for collecting evaluation data from program and class attendance, patron surveys, and testimonials to be utilized for grant reports and donor-facing communications.
Provide meeting preparation support to the Development Director both for Fundraising Committee and full Board meetings.
Position requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Experience and understanding of non-profit fundraising and grant writing.
- Comfortability with MS Office Suite including Word and Excel, Google Suite, and Zoom.
- Experience managing database or CRM system management preferred.
- Ability to stand for multiple hours and lift up to 25lbs, and other physical demands as required.

Facility Coordinator
Part-Time (14 hours/wk with occasional extra hours)

Overall Position Responsibilities
The Facility Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Carnegie Center’s programming, staffing, and building needs related to equipment, repairs, and safety. Hours are Monday-Thursday, 4 pm – 7:30 pm with occasional hours outside business hours for building emergencies and security alarms.
Primary Duties
Be present in the Carnegie Center lobby during the busiest times to oversee general safety and also serve as a back-up staff person for the front desk team when needed.
Set up and troubleshoot technology needed for classes, programs, meetings, events, and the workplace including laptops, TVs, PA system, LCD projection equipment, office phones, etc.
Serve as the liaison with LFUCG’s facilities department for maintenance issues. Submit work orders, meet with city staff for repairs/updates, and contact them when emergencies arise.
Serve as the primary person responsible for our security system, responding to alarms after hours and notifying our vendor of false alarms and repair needs. Also oversee security cameras.
Ensure our building and grounds are a welcoming and safe space for all present. Conduct safety trainings and drills with staff, and assist staff in ensuring patrons are safely in designated areas when emergencies arise. Keep an eye on weather situations. Check for and remedy physical dangers, such as lights that are out or slick steps. Ask patrons to leave who violate our policies or create unsafe/unwelcoming situations. Also observe areas beyond the Carnegie Center (i.e., Gratz Park) for potential situations that may endanger our patrons.
Coordinate cleaning needs with our cleaning vendor, including routine and additional cleanings. Also order/purchase cleaning supplies needed by the cleaning vendor or our staff.
Help with literary rentals happening during open hours, including setting up tech equipment.
Serve as the liaison with our copier vendor, WiFi and phone providers, and others in case of equipment/service repairs and troubleshooting needs.
Maintain equipment and furniture inventory, keep equipment and related cords organized where staff can access them if needed outside of the Facility Coordinator’s hours.
Other Duties
Assist with annual Carnegie events, such as the Books-in-Progress Conference, Carnegie Classics, and the Kentucky Writers Hall of Fame; additional work hours may be available.
Other relevant duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Position Requirements
- Experience in using cell phone apps (general knowledge) and also software for MS Office, Google Suite, and Zoom required.

Camp Carnegie Assistant
Type: Contract Position, Temporary
Stipend: $2,000
Work Dates & Time: M-F, July 13-31, 2026 from approximately 8-5 pm with a 1 hour lunch break, plus a 2-3 hour instructor training in late June or early July

About Camp Carnegie
Camp Carnegie is a series of camps for middle school youth. It is designed to provide high-quality academic enrichment, fun, fast-paced learning, and an introduction to fascinating careers. Experienced instructors, community field trips, and hands-on activities contribute to the fun yet informative nature of the program. This is a three week summer camp at the Carnegie Center, each camp with a different theme and instructor. We have two Camp Carnegie Assistant positions available.

Responsibilities
- Serve as assistant to camp instructors for six half-day camps
- Collect permission and photo release forms, reach out to parents if needed
- Sit in on six camps as an authority figure; handle behavior issues if they arise
- Set up supplies in classroom
- Prepare daily snack for each camp (we will purchase snacks to have at the center)
- Oversee lunch for full-day campers
- Coordinate student drop-off and pick-up; remain with children until parents have arrived
- Clean classroom at the conclusion of each camp (pick up supplies, straighten chairs, vacuum when needed, etc.)
- Help prepare final grant report at conclusion of camps
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal communication skills with teachers, parents, students, and coordinator
- Strong professionalism and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain order and deal with behavior issues if they arise
- Experience with middle school students required
- Must complete a background check paid for by the Carnegie Center
