This seminar is part of the Accents Originals Series held in partnership with Accents Publishing.
Join Kentucky Writers Hall of Fame inductee Richard Taylor for a one-of-a-kind, in-person workshop on his spacious back porch at his historic farm in Frankfort. Limited to 10–15 students, this session covers how to start a journal, how to choose subject matter, and the value of keeping a record of your life, thoughts, and impressions. Participants will also explore ways to illustrate their journals, with an introduction to foundational drawing practices and watercolor painting.
Materials needed: 1) An unlined sketchbook (for example, Peter Pauper Press, 5 1/4 x 8 1/2, 182 pages, with heavy archival-quality white paper). Students have the option to purchase supplies from the instructor during the first class. 2) A jar for water. 3) Charcoal pencil and black Pilot pens. The instructor will provide complimentary homemade walnut ink for each participant, as well as artist images from art books to use as models (participants may also bring their own). Students of any experience level are welcome.
Four-week class, meeting August 2, 9, 16, and 23, from 2–4 PM. In person, Frankfort.
