In three two-hour classes, students will practice reading their own poetry aloud. Focus will be on diction, scanning, projection, and other techniques that can help every poet ‘sell’ his, her, or their poems and in the process sell more books. For poets of all abilities.

Bill McCann is a poet, playwright, and a series host for Eastern Standard on WEKU (88.9 FM). He is the author of two chapbooks of flash fiction and a memoir. His memoir, Yearnings: A Memoir in Prose & Poetry (2025) is a mix of poetry and prose styles. His play Which Side Are You On? won the Frostburg State University One-Act Play Contest in 2025, and it also won the Roots of the Bluegrass New (One-Act) Play Contest.

Cancellation Policy:

The Carnegie Center reserves the right to cancel a class if minimum enrollment is not met. It is best to register early to help our instructors prepare and to ensure the class does not get cancelled. We evaluate registration numbers between 6 and 2 business days before a class starts to decide whether we can hold the class. Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment may be cancelled a minimum of two business days prior to the first class meeting. All participants will be notified by email and will receive full refunds.
