Do you dream of seeing your words brought to life on a stage? In this welcoming Zoom workshop, playwrights of all experience levels will connect with other writers and master the fundamentals of writing for the theatre. Introduction to Playwriting focuses on the essential building blocks of dramatic writing: character, conflict, dialogue, and stage directions. Participants will also generate and revise new creative material. Every week, writers will hear their own work read aloud, offer and receive constructive feedback, and learn from in-class playwriting exercises.
This class is suitable for writers of all levels, ages 16+.
Katie Kirk is a playwright and screenwriter with an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University whose work has been published by Samuel French and recognized by Theater Masters and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, among others.
