“To write is to give our attention to something and then ask Why?” – Joy Sullivan

Using our surroundings and our senses, we’ll allow our instincts to lead us in this generative workshop. Be prepared to be outside, to stroll, and to write in the park, and we’ll hone our practice of paying attention, our practice of noticing. Back in the classroom, we’ll excavate what we’ve noticed, looking for the secrets our unconscious heart is sensing. We may find our way to a new creative nonfiction project or what we discover could deepen writing we’ve long set aside. Wherever your particular sensory journey takes you, finding your why can impart a fulfilling technique to use again and again—for both jumpstarting and revising your creative nonfiction.

This class is suitable for writers of all levels.
