Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.) – Summer 2024

D.E.A.R. stands for “Drop Everything and Read,” a national celebration of reading designed to remind families to make reading a priority activity in their lives.  D.E.A.R. day is celebrated every year on April 12 for author Beverly Cleary’s birthday. D.E.A.R. time was a reading practice featured in the Ramona books.

This summer, the Carnegie Center staff will “Drop Everything and Read” every Friday at 4:00 PM in our lobby. Members of the public are encourage to join us for this weekly reading event.

In the Gratz Park neighborhood, but you forgot to bring a book ? No worries! Attendees can choose a free book from our Arnow Reading Room to read and keep after the 15-minute D.E.A.R session.
