Celebrate Black History Month all month long with virtual activities available throughout February.
We miss gathering with you for our family events in the building, like our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Community Celebration. Our youth events continue to operate virtually, and in 2022 we are celebrating Black History Month all month long!
ACTIVITY KITS: 60 spots will be available to register for a free mailed Black History Month kit that includes a copy of the book Change Sings: A Children’s Anthem, written by bestselling author and presidential inaugural poet Amanda Gorman and #1 New York Times bestselling illustrator Loren Long. Registered families will also receive an activity packet with educational materials and craft supplies.
Registration is now open for Celebrate Black History Month activity kits! Black History Month kits are available to Kentucky residents who register online. Limit 2 kits per family. Kits will be mailed the first week of February to the address provided at registration.
VIDEO SERIES: Each Monday in February, tune in to a series of videos that highlight local Black storytelling, music, cuisine, and more! Videos will be available for all on our Kids & Teens YouTube playlist.
YOUNG BLACK VOICES CONTEST: We will also be accepting submissions to our second-annual Young Black Voices contest, an art and writing contest for Black students in grades K-12 with prizes. For information on the contest and how to enter, please click here.
Carnegie Center's Black History Month Celebration is sponsored by Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky & William Stamps Farish Fund.
