Book Discussion: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Join us for an online discussion for adults about Philip K. Dick's classic 1968 dystopian sci-fi novelDo Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, in preparation for Carnegie Classics: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? on Saturday, November 4, 2023. This discussion will be led by Kentucky authors Mary Knight and Jason Sizemore.

We will discuss themes present in the book such as humanity, empathy, memory, as well as explore character development and post-apocalyptic setting. This is a participatory class so please feel free to share your ideas and insights with the class. The Zoom link will be emailed 24-48 hours prior to the event.

Mary Knight is an award-winning author and a frequent presenter at schools and conferences around the country. Mary’s middle grade novelSaving Wonder (Scholastic) was the winner of the 2017 Green Earth Book Award for Children’s Fiction, among many others. Mary has also co-authored CoreEmpathy: Literacy Instruction with a Greater Purpose. Mary believes that empathy is at the core of a successful life and great relationships...and oh yeah, it might just create a better world. In addition to writing and presenting, Mary mentors aspiring writers at the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning in Lexington, Kentucky.

Jason Sizemore is a three-time Hugo Award-nominated editor, writer, and publisher who operates the science fiction, fantasy, and horror press Apex Book Company. He is the author of the collection of dark science fiction and horror shorts Irredeemable and the tell-all creative non-fiction For Exposure: The Life and Times of a Small Press Publisher. Jason is also a long-time mentor and instructor at the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning in Lexington, Kentucky.
