Using Dialogue to Create Memorable Characters – Winter 2022

Think about a favorite book or movie. Is there a line of dialogue everyone can quote? Dialogue is more than the exchange of information. It reveals something about the story or about the character who spoke. A few words of dialogue can convey background, emotion, age, class, and more. At the same time, normal conversation doesn’t belong in a book. Everyday conversation may be humdrum; dialogue in a book has a purpose. In this class, we will discuss the power of dialogue and how to use it to enhance your characters and your storyline. For all levels.

Tracee de Hahn teaches writing at workshops across the country. Her mysteries are published by St. Martin’s Press.
