The World According to Metaphor – Winter 2022

At its essence, the art of metaphor is about the imagination and skill to talk about something by talking about or appearing to talk about something else. For this reason, it is one of the most important tools in the writer’s toolbox. In this workshop, we will explore the world of metaphors so that we can understand our world with metaphor. We will gain a broader understanding of metaphor and will learn inventive exercises for constructing different kinds of metaphors. For all levels.

An Affrilachian Poet, Al Smith as well as Cave Canem fellow, makalani bandele has multiple books of poetry and his work has been anthologized frequently and published widely in literary journals and magazines.
