The Intimate Experience of Writing: From Conception to Creation- Summer 2022

Writing a book is exciting, a chance to put your personal stamp in the canon of human experience. It can also make you pull your hair out with frustration and take up valuable headspace for decades. This deeply personal, peculiar creative journey is something only writers understand. In this class, we will discuss Wally Lamb, Donna Tart and Flannery O’Conner, Sam Shepard, Tennessee Williams, Carrie Fisher and Mary Karr, locals Kevin Lane Dearinger, Chris Offut and more over the course of this six-week class. Each of you will get to share your experience, read excerpts, and discuss your journey, wherever in the process you may be, writing a book.

Erin Chandler has an MFA in Creative Writing, and her memoir, Junebug Versus Hurricane, has garnered critical praise.

This class is suitable for all levels.
