The Basics of Freelancing – Summer 2021

Have you ever wanted to work as a freelance writer? As more and more people are working to break into the freelance writing market – whether to augment their income or to replace their day job—we’ve got the real 4-1-1 on what it takes to be have a successful career as a freelance writer. Come learn how to get started; where to find jobs and what kind of jobs are out there; how to pitch magazines/newspapers and how to write a query letter; how to find sources and interview subjects, including what tools to use to document your interviews; and finally, how to get paid and take care of the business end of freelancing.
For all levels.

Liz Carey has been a freelance writer for the past five years, after a 20-plus year career as a reporter. She’s won more than 30 national, statewide and regional awards for her writing and reporting.
