Revision as Discovery – Fall 2020

Discovery is as central to revision as it is to writing first drafts. Revision is not merely editing. At its best, revision moves our work forward in fruitful ways and leads to moments of arrival when the heart of the piece becomes clearer to us. Polishing sentences, paragraphs, sections when we don’t know where the story is headed can be a poor use of writing time. This seminar presents techniques of revision as an extension of the creative process. Leatha Kendrick’s most recent book of poetry, And Luckier, has just been published by Accents Publishing. She has published essays, short fiction, and five books of poetry and has enjoyed teaching at the Carnegie Center for eighteen years. [ALL LEVELS]
