Poetry & Memory – Fall 2023

As writers and artists, we draw from many wells—observation, experience, overheard conversations, dreams—not the least of which is memory. Memory—which has the capacity to unleash creativity, to weigh us down, or even deceive us. In this generative workshop, we’ll begin to demystify the relationship between poetry and memory, creating instead exquisite mysteries in the form of metaphors, images, and lines. By accessing and untangling your most striking (and unsuspecting) memories, you’ll work on writing poems drawn from your own recollections.

Quinn Lewis is a poet, educator, and editor, whose work has been published in The Southern Review, Ecotone, The Cincinnati Review, among other literary journals.

This class is suitable for all levels.
