In this class we will not only write and workshop individual poems but will work deliberately towards finishing a project. We will learn to understand the essence of the poetry book we’ve been writing and learn to help shape it into what it naturally desires to be. We will also learn how to lift the focus beyond the individual poem and tune our senses to the concert of the whole. You may or may not complete your book during the class, but you will gain understanding and appreciation of the process, as well as gain energy and momentum for the writing life afterwards. Katerina Stoykova is the author of several award-winning poetry books and the Senior Editor of Accents Publishing, where she has selected, edited, and published close to 80 poetry collections. To be considered for the class, please email a poetry sample (5–7 poems) combined in one word document to AMiller@CarnegieCenterLex.org (subject line NAME/ POETRY MASTER CLASS/SUMMER 2020) by Wednesday, June 10. For advanced levels.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Wednesday, June 10 (submissions will be juried)
