Memoir: Sculpting Your Work–Spring 2022

Bring a work-in-progress to learn how to craft your story into a compelling narrative that reads as easily and gracefully as fiction. We will discuss what to select to share instead of telling “the whole story.” Excerpts from the work-in-progress will be read, responded to, and worked on in each class. Guidelines will be given to capture and heighten memories. The main focus will be on shaping the student’s work into a truthful and well-written narrative.

Carnegie Center Author Academy mentor Barbara Alfaro is the award-winning author of Mirror Talk, a memoir, Theatre Mad, a collection of comedies and Catbird, a book of poems. [INTERMEDIATE]
