Dragon Girls – Winter 2021

GIRLS IN GRADES 5–6: Dragons can be symbolic of amazing strength, deep magic, and creativity. This club will empower girls through self-expression usingreading, writing, and poetry. We will read and discuss various books of fiction and poetry that feature strong girls who can take care of themselves. Our protagonists will actually tame dragons, some real and some metaphorical. This class will be online, but may also have outdoor meetings at the Carnegie Center, dependent upon community health guidelines this fall. Led by poet Carole Johnston, former school library media specialist for grades K–8 and former creative writing instructor for the SCAPA program at Lafayette High School.
