Create Your Own Fantasy or Science Fiction Stories – Spring 2023

GRADES 5–7: We will read excerpts from various fantasy and science fiction books and graphic novels—from Harry Potter to The BFG, from Percy Jackson to The Martian Chronicles, and many more—to learn how to create amazing worlds and heroic characters. We will discuss how these stories fit the model of Joseph Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey” and create our own stories.

Carole Johnston is a poet, former school library media specialist for grades K–8, and former creative writing instructor for the SCAPA Literary Arts program at Lafayette High School.

Cancellation Policy:

The Carnegie Center reserves the right to cancel a class if minimum enrollment is not met. It is best to register early to help our instructors prepare and to ensure the class does not get cancelled.
