Mary Oliver describes reading a poem as “someone stepping into a row boat with a stranger at the oars; the first few draws on the long oars through the deep water will tell a lot–is one safe, or is one apt to be soon drowned?” This class will explore line length and line breaks (the turn of the line) and how to carry our reader safely to the end of the poem.
Katie Riley has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, and runs a poetry workshop and a poetry Facebook group of over 200 members.
This class is suitable for writers of all levels.
