Do you have a wisp of an idea but wondering how to fan the flames into a full story?
Using a tool called the Blueprint for a Book, we’ll take a deep dive into what your book is about, why you’re writing it, and who you’re writing it for. Exercises include writing jacket copy, brainstorming as many as 20-30 titles, thinking about your novel’s structure, ideal narrators, and other tools. Zeroing in on your character’s inner and outer journeys is an invaluable exercise whether you’re starting a first draft or your fifth revision.
This class is suitable for all levels.
Laurie Calkhoven, a former publishing professional and the author of more than 50 books for young readers, incorporates meditation into her writing practice. She’s taught these techniques at regional SCBWI conferences, the Highlights Foundation, and for the Carnegie Center.
