This course will be a workshop to explore options in illustrating your journal, concentrating on some basic practices of drawing and painting (watercolors). We’ll also discuss how to start a journal and options in subject matter as well as the general practice of keeping a record of your life, your thoughts and impressions. Persons at any level of experience are welcome.
Required Materials: An unlined sketchbook (Peter Pauper Press 5 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ with heavy archival-quality white paper and 182 pages, for sale from instructor); a watercolors set with ten or more color options, a jar for water, charcoal pencil, blue and black Pilot pens.
This class is suitable for all levels.
Richard Taylor is primarily a writer and poet, but has been journalling daily since 1984, accumulating over 250 volumes of diary entries and illustrating them for the last 25 or so years.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
The Carnegie Center reserves the right to cancel a class if minimum enrollment is not met. It is best to register early to help our instructors prepare and to ensure the class does not get cancelled. We evaluate registration numbers 6–2 business days before a class starts to decide whether we can hold the class. Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment will be cancelled 6 –2 business days prior to the first class meeting. All participants will be notified by email and will receive full refunds.
