GRADES K-1:  Look what sight words can do! Teaching sight words is important because it helps children develop reading and writing skills, and it can help them become more confident readers. Reading fluency: Sight words help children read faster and more fluently because they don’t need to sound out each word or worry about spelling rules. Reading comprehension: When children can quickly recognize sight words, they can read with more expression and comprehension. Spelling: Sight words help children understand letter-sound relationships and word families, which can help them with spelling. Confidence: When children can easily recognize sight words, they are more likely to approach reading with confidence. Writing: Sight words help children write with ease.
