Xiaowen Liu

Xiaowen Liu, currently teaches beginning Chinese in Confucius Institute at University of Kentucky. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Chinese-English Translation and Interpretation from Macao Polytechnic Institute in 2009 and Master of Interpreting and Translation from University of Western Sydney in 2011. That year she taught English for elementary students in China. From 2013-2015, she worked as an editor and translator in a publishing company to edit Chinese teaching materials for Confucius Institute. Though these experiences, she was able to adopt best practices from both education systems and bring them into her own classroom.

For Pre-K through Grade 3 & parents/guardians.

This course is designed for parents and kids with no significant background in Chinese language. We will focus on speaking and listening to Mandarin (Modern Chinese). Chinese basic concepts, such as numbers, colors, animals, and daily functional conversations, will be taught. Chinese children’s songs and nursery rhymes will also be introduced through language experience. [NEW!]
