Latest from the Tutoring Coordinator

Greetings! This has been a busy fall as we have increased our student capacity to 200. Thank you to all the volunteer tutors who make this program such a success! I am still looking for a few more tutors; if you know anyone who is interested in volunteering, please send them my way!

We have exciting news for the tutoring room: We will be receiving new computers! We have ordered them, and are eagerly awaiting their arrival. Many thanks to the anonymous donor who funded this purchase.

The tutoring program has also been the beneficiary of a very sad event. A young man, Matthew Philip Waldman, died this year, and his family suggested the Tutoring Program as the memorial recipient. Matthew had struggled as a student when he was young, and his family wanted to help others who had similar academic challenges. Thank you to all the Waldman family and to the generous donors who gave in Matthew’s memory; we will continue to honor and remember Matthew as the tutors and children meet and learn together every day.

Don’t forget! If Fayette County Public Schools are closed, then there is no tutoring. With the sudden arrival of winter this week, please be aware of any weather-related school closings.
