The registration window for the 7-week summer tutoring session for new students or for returning students needing a new tutor is April 1-30. A random lottery will select students for the summer session as well as students for a waiting list. Carol will contact everyone with the results by May 5. This is a family registration—if one child in a family gets in, the other children will automatically be accepted. If you are accepted into the summer session, there is a non-refundable registration fee of $35.00. If your child is on free/reduced lunch at school, the non-refundable fee is $5.00. Tutoring is for an hour a week with a volunteer tutor and the summer session dates are June 12-July 29.
There are three ways to register for the summer lottery during the month of April:
Commonly asked questions about registering for summer tutoring using the lottery system:
Must I register using the lottery system for the summer session if my child was enrolled in the tutoring program during the 2016-2017 school year BUT my child’s tutor cannot return as a summer tutor? Yes. You will need to register using the new lottery system described above if your child needs a new tutor.
Must I register using the lottery system for the summer session if my child was enrolled in the tutoring program during the 2016-2017 school year and the same tutor has agreed to return for the summer? No. If your child is returning with his/her same tutor, then you do not have to enter the lottery. However, you DO have to preregister and pay the registration fee by contacting Carol Jordan in person, by phone, or by email.
