Book Benches Photography Contest

Now it’s your turn to get creative with the Book Benches! Kentucky photographers are invited to submit fun, imaginative and quality photos of the Lexington Book Benches. Grab a prop, set a scene, or catch a candid. Capture the magic of storytelling and be eligible to win cash prizes.

Cash prizes:
“Critically Acclaimed” (decided by guest judge): $500 prize
“Best Seller” (voted for with Facebook “likes”): $250 prize

Deadline to submit: Friday, October 5, midnight

Official rules:

  • Submissions are being collected via Google form. Click here to go to the form and submit.
  • Each photographer may submit up to 5 images. Each image must be 1MB or less in file size.
  • Please include all images in the one submission–you will NOT be able to submit more than one form.
  • The file name of each photo submitted should be in the following format: “LastName_NameofBench” (e.g. “Smith_WhatForestKnows”)
  • Once you’ve submitted, show off your work on social media with the hashtag #BookBenchesLex. In order to be eligible, you must tag the Carnegie Center in your post. (Find us on Facebook: @CarnegieCenterLex; Instagram: @CarnegieCenterLex; and Twitter: @CarnegieCenter.)

The deadline to submit to the contest is October 5. After October 5, a guest judge will decide the winner of the “Critically Acclaimed” prize ($500). Finalists for the “Best Seller” prize will be uploaded to a collective, public album on Facebook, where users will cast votes for their favorite photos with “likes.” The album will be created by the Carnegie Center for Literacy & Learning and promoted as a sponsored post. We encourage you to share this post to help gather votes for your photos! At the end of the voting period, the photo with the most “likes” will win the “Best Seller” prize ($250). Please note that an individual photographer may win both prizes.
